Essential Denim Jean. Cone Mills Selvedge

£99.00

A 13.5 oz raw indigo denim jean with a minimal aesthetic. A slim, straight fit, Italian unbranded shanks, rivets and a ghost patch.

The denim selected for our first Jean is Cone Mills White Oak Selvedge, woven on 1940’s x3 draper shuttle looms and produced in Greensboro North Carolina at the White Oak plant. Cone mills have been producing outstanding denim since 1905.

An important factor in producing this kind of selvedge is, in fact, the original turn of the century cherry wood flooring that the machines sit on. As the draper shuttle looms shoot back and forth the wooden floor gives, and it moves. This, in turn, creates a unique rhythm that is woven into the fabric, creating a depth and dimension that is impossible to replicate.

  • Wearing & Washing:

The waist will stretch out slightly with wear (they’ll return to their original size after washing but will stretch out again). They also come with a long leg length, so it's best to wait until they’ve had a couple of washes before deciding whether-or-not to have them taken up as they can lose up to two inches. Raw denim is best left unwashed for as long as possible, this will help them develop their own unique patina & fades. For that crucial first wash, we recommend washing cold, on their own and with a little detergent.
